DataFlex allocates one byte of storage per character contained in the string. The size of a string variable is dynamically allocated at runtime as the string value changes in length up to a maximum of 64 KB (65536) characters. However, you can use the Set_Argument_Size command to increase the maximum to 2GB.

For more information regarding string variables, refer to Declaring Variables and the String command.
